Habesha Cultural
Center and Art Gallery was established in August 2004 with a vision
of playing a pivotal role in the development of Ethiopia’s tourism
industry. The company had started its business by opening stunning
shops where Ethiopian souvenirs, traditional cloths, jewellery,
African souvenirs, paintings, and books and audios are sold to
visitors in one of the prestigious addresses of Addis Ababa, Dembel
City Center. By doing so, the company had made significant
improvements in the quality and diversity of the Ethiopian cultural
artifacts and tourist products and displayed a high standard of
service that can appear as a role model for other players in similar
business. On top of the retail outlets, the company had opened
coffee museum which depicts the true and original practice of the
Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony with a view to promoting Ethiopian coffee
to tourists visiting the company’s shops.
In a bid to introducing new tourist products, Habesha Cultural
Center and Art Gallery had made its debut by opening city tour
business by importing luxurious open top double deck buses for sight
seeing of Addis Ababa city. This is an absolutely new venture even
in African standard. Only Morocco and South Africa have introduced
such services so far. Among others, this service is providing great
opportunity for conference and business visitors who arrived for
short stay to visit Addis Ababa in a most comfortable and convenient
manner.
Habesha Cultural Center and Art Gallery also provides package tour
services through its well organized tour operation department.
Please refer to the itinerary developed to cater to the different
needs of our customers posted on this web site. Besides the tour
operation service the company also provides car hire services. The
vehicles available for rent include Land Cruisers, saloon cars, mini
buses and midi buses with 20 – 25 seats, among others.
The company’s business has strong backward and forward linkages that
have benefited producers of souvenirs, traditional cloths, painters
and authors supplying the company. On the other hand, what ever the
company sales to tourists would have a vital role in promoting the
destination where it is bought from, what we call a forward linkage.
In the foreseeable future the company shall engage in tour
operations and construct loges in some of the famous tourist
destinations of the country. Habesha Cultural Center and Art Gallery
is currently making preparations to engage in export of Ethiopian
cultural artifacts and souvenirs to foreign markets. |
