Ethiopia is also known to be the country of great artists. The painting works in Ethiopia have several hundred years if not thousands. The religious paintings in the country’s ancient churches can testify this. Amongst the famous religious paintings is the one on the ceilings of the 16th century Debrebirhan Sellassie Church found in the medieval city of Gondar. The painting known as the “Angels Face” is still influencing present day artists and artifacts in their creative works. What makes an Ethiopian Artist, be it modern, realistic or abstract; mostly of his works have a tinge of Ethiopian ness in it. Habesha’s Art Gallery has great collections of paintings of all styles by young and senior artistes of the country.
